Dr. Henry Fung

Henry Fung, D.D.S. obtained his dental degree at Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1983.  He completed a one year internship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Indiana University in 1984.  He completed his residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Cook County Hospital in 1987 where he served as chief resident. He joined the faculty at The University of Illinois at Chicago in 1988-1989 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. From 1987 to 2012 he served as the Deputy Chairman of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery program at Cook County Hospital. He lectures on the national and international level and is a consultant for Stryker craniomaxillofacial division. Dr. Fung is Board Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and his interests include dental implants, maxillofacial reconstruction, maxillofacial trauma, pathology, TMJ dysfunction, general anesthesia and orthognathic surgery.

Dr. Mohammed Qaisi
Image result for qaisi mohammedMohammed Qaisi, DMD, MD received his dental degree at Boston University School of Dental Medicine.  He then obtained his medical degree and subsequently completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Louisiana State University-Shreveport.  He went on to complete a fellowship in Oral-Head & Neck Oncology/Microvascular Surgery at the University of Maryland.  Dr Qaisi has numerous publications and his clinical interests include oral cancer, trans-oral robotic surgery (TORS) and microvascular free tissue transfer for reconstruction of the head and neck.

Dr. James Murphy              

James Murphy received his MD at University College Cork, Ireland
His Oral & Maxillofacial Residency at  University of Maryland Medical Center

His Head & Neck Oncology Microvascular Surgery at University of Michigan Medical Center; and one year fellowship in Plastic reconstructive Surgery at Rush University Craniofacial Surgery  Center , Chicago, Illinois.
His Clinical Expertise :
Head & Neck benign and malignant tumors, Microvascular free flap reconstruction, Orthognathic Surgery, Facial Trauma, Management of Tempromandibular Joint Disorders, and Management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Cleft lip & Cleft palate, Dental Implants.

Dr. Biraj Shah

                                        Dr. Shah joined our faculty as our full time  in August 2018. He completed his Medical training and Oral Maxillofacial surgery residency at University of Maryland. He is interested in the treatment of Orthognathic surgery, Facial Trauma, TMJ disorder, Oral & Maxillofacial pathology, Cleft lip & Cleft palate surgery, dento-alveolar surgeries.

Dr. Julie Laverdiere
Julie Laverdiere Beck, DDS is board certified by the American Board of Oral & 
Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Illinois in Urbana. She then completed her dental degree at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1990. Dr. Laverdiere Beck completed a general practice residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Her Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery specialty training was performed at the University of Illinois, Michael Reese, West Side VA and Cook County Hospitals. During her residency, Dr. Laverdiere Beck was appointed chief resident. Currently, she is on the faculty of University of Chicago Medical School and Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Laverdiere Beck has lectured on multiple topics, including oral pathology, bone grafting and medical emergencies in the dental office.

Dr. Maria Galang
Maria Therese Galang, DDS, MS received her orthodontic degree in 2007 from the University of Illinois School of Dentistry.  She is currently on the faculty of the orthodontic residency program at UIC with responsibilities in both the pre-doctoral and graduate programs.  She received her Master's degree in Oral Sciences.  She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of various professional organizations.  She is active in the orthodontic community, serving in leadership roles as well as giving lectures both locally and aboard.

Dr. George Panos                                                 
George Panos, DDS acheived his dental degree at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry in 1990 after obtaining a bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He completed a one year internship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 1995 at Cook County Hospital. Dr. Panos then joined the faculty at Cook County Hospital as an part time attending in 1995 and become full time in 2012. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is active in the dental community, as well, having taught CPR, lectured on multiple topics and served as president of the Hellenic American Dental Society in 2005.
